Need for Speed Most Wanted UE5

A modern reboot of Need for Speed Most Wanted could look this good in Unreal Engine 5

YouTube’s ‘NostalgiaNexus’ has shared a video, showcasing what a Need for Speed: Most Wanted Remake could look like in UE5. For its environment, the artist used The Matrix Awakens City. It looks stunning, so be sure to watch it.

NostalgiaNexus has exported a car from Need For Speed: Most Wanted and imported in the UE5 City Tech Demo. He also attempted to replicate the driving mechanics of that NFS game. The result is a beautiful mix of NFS: MW and UE5. In a way, it can give us a glimpse at what a re-imagination of this NFS game may look like in Unreal Engine 5.

For those wondering, NostalgiaNexus is the same person behind the Need for Speed: Most Wanted Fan Remake in Unreal Engine 5 project we shared in September 2023. That fan remake had 8K Textures for the road, some upscaled textures from the original game, and a BMW M3 GTR you could drive. Unfortunately, though, there hasn’t been any progress on that project since then.

It’s also worth noting that NostalgiaNexus has not released any of those fan remakes of NFS: MW to the public. So no, you can’t download and try them. It’s a bummer but hey, it is what it is. As a bonus, I’ve also included a video showing Need for Speed: Carbon in Unreal Engine 5.

This Need for Speed: Most Wanted x The Matrix Awakens mashup seems to be pretty demanding. The artist had to take out all the cars and people just to make the game run at an acceptable state. We don’t know what kind of PC NostalgiaNexus used, but there are lots of stutters and framerate drops.

If you’re into Unreal Engine 5 stuff, you’ve got to check out these other awesome fan video remakes. There are faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Death StrandingFallout 4The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s SolitudeGrand Theft Auto 4Fallout 4Resident Evil 1Skyrim’s Winterhold and Skyrim’s Whiterun. There is also this Studio Ghibli stylized teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5. They’re all really cool, so give them a watch.
