People buy these games, often due to reviewers giving way too much praise to these cookie-cutter games (the reviewer is always some fighting game fan who will slap 9/10 on every fighting game he plays).

They are matched with some console nerd with a $400 fight stick who has been playing these games for a decade. They get hit with 20 combos before they realize what is even going on. They stop playing, and realize they just wasted $70 on pretty graphics and lousy gameplay.

This has been going on for decades now, and people never learn.
