CD Projekt RED released today a hotfix patch for their acclaimed RPG, The Witcher 2. This new patch fixes some minor issues with the game’s 3D support, as well as some glitches and bugs. Most importantly though is that the game’s executable files are no longer treated as a threat by popular antivirus softwares. Oh boy, here we go again. Remember when Bioshock 2 was released and the widescreen mode was simply a FOV hack that positioned the camera closer to the view? Well, here comes the latest patch of The Witcher 2 to piss off PC gamers with that same issue. CD Projekt RED is a respected company and we couldn’t believe it when we heard it. But here are some screenshots that prove those complains. One of the worst ‘features’ of The Witcher 2, is a particularly strange lag that we’ve experienced. Geralt most of the times wouldn’t execute immediately the command we issued and as a result of that, we had to press the magic button three or four times till our character decided it was about time to do as he was ordered. Sometimes we couldn’t even block due to this particular issue. This is a bug that can be easily spotted and as we thought, it’s due to Geralt’s movement animations. It seems that Namco Bandai can’t accept the fact that THQ will distribute the X360 version of The Witcher 2 and as a result of that, the company has filed a case against CD Project RED. According to the lawsuit, CD Projekt RED broke their agreement by removing the DRM protection without the publisher’s authority and by choosing THQ for the distribution of The Witcher 2’s X360 version.
